MEET DARRYL RICHEY
How I got here
I served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne. When I came home, I went after dog training the same way, seriously and from the ground up. I graduated from North State Canine Academy and have spent the years since in seminars, in competition, and in other trainers’ sessions, because there is always something left to learn.
Most of my competition years have been in PSA, Protection Sports Association. I have competed, directed, judged, and served as a National Select Decoy more than once. I am in the PSA Hall of Fame on my own and alongside my K9 Gabe, and Gabe and my dog Jaeger have both taken top placements at PSA National Championships.
Closer to home, I trained police K9s that went on to work for departments across the Greater Houston area. These days my work is family dogs, thousands of them by now, which is the part of the job I would not give up.

What that means for your dog
None of that is here to impress you. It is here because the handling that produces a competition dog or a police K9 is the same handling that makes a family dog reliable when it actually counts, at the door, at the curb, off the leash at the park.
A trainer who can take a dog that far can certainly teach yours to walk on a leash and come when you call. That is the part I care most about, and it is why every dog that leaves here comes with my number for life.
